Haley Patillo was born to Christian songwriter David Patillo, who immersed her in music from a young age on his concert tours. Her parents homeschooled their children and enrolled them in music lessons. At about age 13, while overcoming a year of mental illness, Patillo discovered the healing power of classical music and aspired to attend college. She earned an Associate of Arts in Music from Texarkana College, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Henderson State University, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Patillo has taught voice, piano, choir, music appreciation and music theory at University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, Southern Arkansas University, Messenger College, Texarkana First Baptist School of Worship Arts, and independently. She serves as Associate Director of Music for Williams Memorial United Methodist in Texarkana, Texas and as a guest musician for many kinds of events and other churches. She enjoys music history, music theory, hymns and sacred music of all genres, astronomy, American sign language, scripture memorization, and drinking hot tea with her husband, Hollis Thompson, who is a writer, English professor at UAHT, host of the podcast, Sunday Morning Superheroes, and the director of the Biblical Drama Institute.
